It is found in ponds and slow waterways, both with permanent and temporary water, lakes.

The species is reported in southern Texas, Mexico and east Central America.

Famiglia

Dimensions: body 32-39 mm;
                   rear wing 25-32mm,

Male : White "face", the head becomes green metallic in mature males.
The green chest is marked by three oblique lateral dark stripes.
The wings are clear, generally with two cells instead of one in the forewing triangle.
The legs are black.
The abdomen is thin and black with light green trapezoidal patches on segments 2-7, the most prominent of which is on segment 7.
The segments 8-10 and the caudal appendages are black.

Female: face brown, green eyes, chest as a male, dark abdomen, with green friezes similar to those of males.
